WHERIN I'LL CATCH THE CONSCIENCE OF THE KING.

This is a long shot I know, but do any of you guys know any good plays? I have to film a 4 min excerpt and must pick by next week. I'm trying to stay away from Shakespeare cos he's way too cool. Also nothing American please. Do you guys take in much theatre?

Perhaps there is a scene or a snatch of dialogue that would be suited to film(or beta as the case may be)

I'd appreciate any help. Also any good screenwriting books? I have to get cracking on me thesis.

    Cool

    Nothing American, eh?

Assuming that does not disqualify the English language in general I would suggest the works of George Bernard Shaw.

<ul type="square">[*]Pygmalion - the scene where Higgins first presents Eliza in public.[*]Man of Destiny - the opening scene which addresses the problem of a substitute for red ink, human blood being one candidate.[*]The Devil's Disciple - any scene with the General.[/list]Ibsen's Hedda Gabler - the scene where the judge tries to blackmail Hedda into having sex with him.

    Cool

Any of the west end sex farces of Ray Cooney and/or John Chapman, particularly Move Over Mrs. Markham or No Sex Please, We're British.

The diary bit between the two girls in "The Importance of Being Earnest". Or anything Oscar Wilde for that matter. Just a suggestion...
